Their friendship has been strengthened by years of working side by side on remediation, remodeling and flooring projects, along with hunting trips, time on the water, campfires and countless outdoor adventures.

Both men are deeply family-minded and understand that a house is more than lumber, drywall and flooring. It is where daily life happens and where people expect to feel comfortable in their surroundings. That belief is at the heart of Northwoods. Every property is treated with the care, respect and attention to detail they would expect in their own homes.

Why Northwoods?

Some names are created. Ours was lived.

The name Northwoods came naturally because the outdoors has always been a part of who Josh and Gary are. To them, the Northwoods is more than a place on a map. It's waking before daylight and watching the first glow of sunrise break through the trees. It's those first quiet moments when the woods begin to come alive—the rustling of leaves in the morning breeze, birds calling and taking flight overhead, wildlife stirring through the timber, and the steady sound of a creek or stream flowing somewhere in the distance.

It's the wind moving through towering trees, the crispness of fresh air and the kind of serenity you can only find when you're miles away from the noise and distractions of everyday life. It's sitting beneath a sky filled with more stars than you could ever count, looking north and catching the glow of the Northern Lights dancing across the horizon, campfires, lakes, rivers, back roads, changing seasons and the excitement of wondering what might be around the next bend.

For Josh and Gary, those places represent adventure, freedom, strength and peace—but they also represent something deeper. The outdoors teaches patience. It demands preparation. It rewards perseverance. Above all, it reminds you to respect the environment around you and leave things better than you found them.

Those same principles became part of the foundation of Northwoods Remediation Services. We wanted a name that represented more than the work we perform. We wanted it to represent who we are, where we come from and the standards we intend to live by—hard work, integrity, loyalty, respect and taking care of people.

Josh

Devoted husband. Proud father. Outdoorsman. Problem solver.

Josh is a devoted husband and father who married his best friend after the two first met while they were still teenagers in high school. Together, they have built a life centered around family, adventure and making memories with their two daughters.

Family time rarely means sitting still. Their lives are filled with martial arts, horseback riding, golf, hiking, fishing, hunting and exploring new places together. Some of Josh's favorite memories have come from packing up the family and heading west, where mountains, wide-open country and the promise of another adventure have created memories they will carry for a lifetime.

Josh's commitment to family and hard work was shaped long before Northwoods began. His father was a hardworking man who taught him that a person's character is measured not only by how hard they work, but by how they treat and take care of the people around them. Those lessons—work hard, be dependable, help people when you can and take pride in what you put your name on—have stayed with Josh throughout his life.

Losing his father made those lessons even more meaningful. Today, Josh carries them forward in the way he raises his own family, the way he treats his friends and customers, and the standards he expects from himself at Northwoods.

To Josh, dependability is simple: show up, do what you said you would do, take care of people and stand behind your work. Those are more than business principles—they are values passed down to him, and they are values he intends Northwoods to represent.

Gary

Family-minded. Craftsman. Outdoorsman. Built for the next challenge.

Gary brings the same combination of hard work, adventure and strong family values to Northwoods. With years of hands-on experience in remediation, carpentry and flooring installation, Gary has spent much of his career transforming damaged, worn or unfinished spaces into places people can feel proud of again.

Away from the jobsite, Gary is happiest when life takes him outdoors. Hunting, fishing, camping, boating, scouting the woods and spending time with the people closest to him are a major part of who he is. Since he was a kid, hunting, fishing and heading north have been some of the things he enjoys most. He has always been drawn to the freedom, challenge and quiet confidence that come with the outdoors.

That mindset carries directly into his work. Patience, preparation, perseverance and respect matter whether you are deep in the woods or standing in the middle of a difficult project. Gary approaches both with the same steady determination.

Family has always played an important role in Gary's life, and much of his work ethic was shaped by his father. Continuing that legacy of hard work, craftsmanship and helping others is something Gary takes seriously. For him, a successful project is not simply about repairing a building. It is about helping people get their home healthy, looking great, and feeling confident and comfortable in the place they call home.

Together, Josh and Gary bring a long friendship, shared values and a genuine love of the outdoors into Northwoods. Their shared connection to the outdoors—and Gary’s lifelong love of heading north—made Northwoods a natural name for the company they wanted to build.
